Competition Rules Summary

Entries will be judged in one of two categories:
- Set subject, as outlined in the Programme or
- Open subject.
Entries will be judged in two grades for each open or set category
- A grade (advanced)
- B grade (novice)
Entries for each grade will be judged in three sections:
- Colour prints
- Monochrome prints
- Projected Images (Slides or EDI)
Entries shall be limited to a maximum of two (2) images per section per member in each monthly competition, unless stated otherwise in the Programme , e.g.:
- Two colour prints, and
- Two monochrome prints, and
- Two Projected Images (Slides or EDI)
All images, including portion(s) used in montage etc, must have been taken by the member.
A print or slide which has received an award certificate, merit or high commendation, in a monthly competition shall not be eligible for entry in any future monthly competition. It can be entered in a Club Annual Exhibition, or in special competitions, if it has not previously been entered in those competitions
Points awarded for each entry count towards an aggregate trophy, presented at the annual exhibition.
It is a condition of competition entry that images gaining either highly commended or merits may be displayed on the Adelaide Camera Club website.

Judging

Prints may be mounted or unmounted
Framed prints will not be accepted.
Minimum print size is 6.5” x 4.5” (16.5cm x 11.5 cm) or 29.25” square (190 cm square).
Maximum presentation size (including mount) is 16” x 20” (40.6cm x 50.8cm) or 320” square (2062 cm square).
The back of each print must be clearly marked with the following:
- The title of the picture (optional)
- The name of the entrant
- Grade - A grade or B grade
- ‘Top' to mark the orientation of the print
Corresponding entry labels (obtainable from the competition secretary) must be filled in.

Projected Images

Projected images may be either slides or Electronic Digital Images (EDI) and will be shown on the appropriate screen format.

Slides

Slides must be standard 2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm) mount.
Slides must be clearly spotted in the lower left hand corner when held in the correct position for viewing.
The title of the slide (optional) and the name of the entrant must be clearly written on the slide mount
Corresponding entry labels (obtainable from the competition secretary) must be filled in.

Electronic Digital Image

Maximum file dimensions: 1024 pixels wide and 768 pixels high
Maximum file size to be no more than 220kb
Colour space for images should be: sRGB IEC6 1966-2.1
A maximum of 3 images per entrant for each competition night

1 image in Set Subject

An entry form is to accompany all EDI entries
Competition entries are to be e-mailed to: accdigitalcomp@gmail.com
Close off for all entries is the Sunday (12 midnight) before the competition
No entries will be accepted on the night of the competition
Naming of files should follow the following convention:

Grade – a or b
Section – o = Open or s = Set
No. of entry – 1 or 2
Surname of entrant
Example – ao2smylie = A grade; Open section; image #2; entrant=Smylie
Example – bs1bloggs = B grade; Set Subject; image #1; entrant= Bloggs

Image titles should be short and as concise as possible

Definitions

Monochrome:

The monochrome section includes black & white prints, and prints made on black & white paper and completely or partially toned in one colour, or prints made on black & white paper that have the addition of one colour added by any means.

Colour:

The colour section includes all colour prints and prints made on black & white paper completely or partially toned in more than one colour, or having had the addition of more than one colour by any means.

Creative/Experimental:

Photographs displaying a novel effect because of an unusual combination of objects and/or unusual viewpoint.
Photographs in which the images have been modified during or after exposure by using an experimental technique.
The photograph must always have a basic photographic image.
Digital manipulation processes may be employed providing the original photograph was exposed by the entrant.
